Email Marketing - How Often Should You Broadcast? It has long been accepted fact within the online marketing world that email lists and building a list of opt in subscribers is hands down the BEST way to make money online. All the best marketers understand this and focus on growing their lists as their primary business task each and every day. But, to the new marketer there is one big question when it comes to staying in contact with your list…How often should I send broadcasts? Sending too often can seem like spam. Especially as a timid new marketer, you don’t want to bother your prospects and the last thing you want is to have someone unsubscribe after you spent so much time and effort getting them to sign on to your list in the first place! Sending to infrequently doesn’t build the relationship between you and your prospect the way email marketing should… Since the whole goal of auto responders and broadcast messages is to build that relationship with your list you need to do it regularly, but how regularly? Numerous studies and tests have been conducted by top email marketers over and over again and the results of those tests are always the same. You should email your list at LEAST once per day at the same time every day. The reason has to do with human behavior. People are creatures of habit. Over time people become conditioned to expect, and more importantly accept, things when see them happen each and every day. Marketers want people to become accustomed to receiving their emails every day and have as many people open those emails as possible. I’ve conducted tests on this and looked at 2 very important factors. 1 - the loss of subscribers, and 2 - the % rates of complaints (most auto responders require you to stay under.1%.). I have noticed very little difference between sending email marketing messages once per day, twice per day, and 3 times per day, so people aren’t getting any more upset by me sending them multiple emails every day than they are by me sending them 1 per day. There is one important caveat to this. The broadcast messages need to meet quality standards and MUST provide value each and every time. People are smarter than ever when it comes to advertising nowadays, so they recognize spam quickly. Any email marketing message that comes across as cheap or underhanded will be recognized as such and either reported as spam by the subscriber, or that subscriber will simply unsubscribe.
