
Email Marketing - Respect Your SubscribersIf there was one strategy that you cannot do without in internet marketing it is list building. And, the KEY to that list is the type of relationship you have with your subscribers. “Treat others as you would want to be treated.” While a lot is written about “attitude” in the online business world, the dictum above is one to really live by. Put yourself in your subscribers’ shoes and try to think like them. Don’t ever envisage them as folks who are money pits. Then over-deliver! Your relationship with your subscribers is the foundation for future sales, so it is vital to build credibility and trust FIRST. This is a mindset or attitude to always maintain. A part of this attitude is “pre-selling” - not seeing the subscribers as folks whom you have to hard sell to from the get go. A good tactic is to ask them what are their biggest issues or challenges and what solutions are they looking for. Then GIVE it to them. Your emails should not be a sales letter. Let me repeat that, “Your email messages should NOT be a sales letter.” The place for selling is your website where you put into effect all of your sales strategies. The email letter is NOT the place. Readers are not twits. They will know if you are only interested in selling to them - no matter even if you are not blatantly advertising in your emails. If they think you are not genuinely interested in them and their solution seeking, you will quickly end up in their deleted box. Use your newsletter and emails as a way to build TRUST and a lasting RELATIONSHIP with your potential customers. I don’t know about you, but I get sick of emails that always seem to be about flogging things - sure some of them offer good products, but the ones that give and ask for nothing are few and far between. Just simply share your research and knowledge with your list and only recommend top-notch goods and services that you’ve personally checked out and that you honestly believe will help your prospect.
