If someone told me three years ago that I’d be an email marketer one day, and that I’d send out an email one day and watch as over $36,000.00 dumped into the bank I’d laugh in their face. But it happened - granted, the bank account wasn’t mine, but as an email copywriter for a respected online business, I used it as leverage to get a nice, burly raise.

And the kicker is, it’s a skill I learned in a short amount of time that I’ll always have. When you’re an internet marketer, you can start with nothing, and quickly build a list, send out an email, and reap the rewards.

Becoming a successful internet marketer isn’t easy if you’re just getting started, but it’s a lot easier if you’ve got a guide. My guide was Tellman Knudson and his wife Jodi. They taught me how to run a whole email marketing business, soup to nuts. In this quick article, I’m going to give you an overview of that process: There really are just three major steps (and about a thousand smaller ones)…

Step One: Build a squeeze page.

You’ll need a domain name, a hosting account, and an autoresponder - all of which you can get for free or cheap (under $10.) if you’re crafty. I won’t waste time with a list of resources right now (that’s for another article) but the video below is a great place to start.

Internet marketers love squeeze pages because that’s what builds them their list. A squeeze page is a place where you can sign up for someone’s list by entering your name and email address (actually, the link below takes you to one of ours that leads to the video I was talking about. Every good email marketer has a squeeze page of some kind.

Step Two: Drive Traffic.

Email marketers are just like any other website owner - they need web traffic (visitors) to survive. The difference is, when you build a list, you’re capturing your traffic for future use - you’re able to follow up with leads, send special promotions, and turn your list into money.

Regular website owners who aren’t also internet marketers have to hope they can drive enough traffic to hit their sales goals. Email marketers know they’ll have the traffic, because they have the list.

Step Three: Send Email, Make Money.

The last step you need to take to be a true email marketer is to send out an email, and watch the dollars roll into the bank. You can sell a product of your own (like an ebook, a physical product, or a service you provide), or you can sell someone else’s product or service as an affiliate and get a commission.

As an internet marketer you can make an absolute killing because the size of your list is directly proportional to the size of your wallet. If you want more money, the simple way to get it is to focus on growing your list.
