Opt In List Building Tips

If you’ve been associated with internet marketing for any period of time, you have probably heard a hundred times, the money is in the list. The reason being that when you have a mailing list, you automatically have your own personal group of people you can pitch products to. Undoubtedly, the larger and more targeted the list, the greater the results. And the result that you want to obtain is better revenue.

You need to be careful not to send out too many messages that are promoting a product or you’ll lose the trust and support of your mailing list members. Then again, if you send out too much free information, you might just alienate your mailing list members when you do finally pitch any type of product to them.

You need to provide quality free information and advice, but strive for a balance by including promotional information that is related to the free information you’re providing.

It’s much more effective to include your sales pitch within your free advice or information. For example, if your business is based on Web 2.0 information and products, in one of your mailings you’re explaining how to get the most benefit out of Web 2.0 and include a unique software program that can decrease their time and increase their profit margin.

After establishing a solid, trusting relationship with your group, you can pretty much call any shots you want or need. Just remember, you need to maintain a comfortable balance between sales pitch and periods of no promotion at all. If you are able to keep the balance, you will always have the ability to generate almost immediate volumes of revenue.

When starting to build your list, it’s important to do it correctly. Spam is the enemy of your profits. By utilizing the double opt-in offered by your auto responder company, you can sleep sounding knowing you can’t be accused of spamming. First, you want your entire list to be totally and completely opt-in. In other words, every member that has joined your list has done so because they want to be on it.

Next, you want to make certain each person who signs up for your mailing list knows that you are an internet marketer and that they will be receiving promotional messages, and not just free advice and information. By following this advice, you will be creating a valuable list and you’ll have your very own virtual gold mine.
