Your first priority when building an email addresses list is to ensure that everyone on your list is a qualified prospect. Third party email lists are available but you would be better off building your own list. You can be sure that everyone on your list has given you the necessary authorization only if you have built the list yourself.

Customers don’t want to receive emails from businesses they don’t know. Imagine what it must be like for the customer to receive tons of emails from companies they know nothing about. Your email addresses list should only contain the email details of prospects that have signed up to receive your information. Spamming is illegal so don’t even consider it as an option. It will ruin your company’s reputation anyway!

Trust is an important factor in the process. You want your customers to trust your company. If they have volunteered to sign up to your email addresses list then you have built a platform of trust already. You want to make sure you send them targeted messages which are rich with valuable content to keep them subscribed.

You must entice visitors to sign up to your email addresses list. You can do this by offering them a free digital download e.g. e-book or template. Make sure the free download is something your customers want. Once they are on your list you can keep them interested with your email marketing campaigns. You must, however, ensure that your emails are filled with rich, valuable content your subscribers will value and use.
